International Women’s Day and Mothers Day have fallen very close to each other this year – much to the disgruntlement of some men who seem to have forgotten there is an International Men’s Day and Fathers Day as well *eye roll*  -  so I thought I’d write a post dedicated to all the brilliant women I have known in my life.

For raising the son who would become my Grandfather….

For making the decision to bring me into the world, knowing you would pay with your health…

For sheltering me from the evil that had insinuated its way into our lives…

For saying ‘yes’ when asked ‘Can Kerry come and live with you?’…

For instilling me with a sense of independence…

For choosing me over him when I was old enough to speak for myself…

For making the world’s best strawberry pavlova…

For sticking up for me when I was being bullied…

For helping me make one of the most important decisions of my life…

For making the world’s best blueberry muffins…

For never judging, no matter what mistakes I made…

For bailing me out financially, time and time again…

For the time you put George Michael’s ‘Too Funky’ on the jukebox so we could dance around the pub together…

For letting me crash on the couch – black eye, bloody nose – and not asking any questions…

For being a fantastic foster mother to my little brother and I, albeit for a brief period…

For nursing the heart broken by my first love…

For nursing the heart broken by the loss of my mum…

For all the AFD’S…

For that Easter weekend when London met Blackpool…

For the evenings sat on the sofa watching Sex & The City…

For the chicken schnitzels…

For the night we did the best conga EVER…

For being responsible for my entire social life from 2000 – 2005…

For that night at Cielo when we played cricket on the dancefloor…

For raising the man who would grow up to be my husband…

For being the best bridesmaids a girl could wish for…

For nursing the heart broken by the loss of my gran…

For always being there when I have a panicky ‘new mum’ question…

For being, collectively, the most supportive, inspirational and genuinely balls-out FANFUCKINGTASTIC bunch of women a girl could ever wish to know.

For all of the above I thank my mum, my grandma, my great grandma, the women I am lucky enough to call my friends, my mother-in-law, the fantastic women I know in the virtual world and all the other women I have known, past and present, whose friendship, love and guidance have helped make me the person I am today.

Thank you
